TMX CHINA ROADSHOW: WINDMILLS AND A WARM WELCOME.
In October key members of MSCM’s China Desk traveled to China with the TMX Canadian Public Equity Markets China Roadshow. The warmth of the welcome we received as a sponsor for the event was a perfect match for the entrepreneurial drive and technical strength we saw everywhere we went.
The first stop was in Beijing for the Wind Power Conference, attended by suppliers, contractors, and other business related to the booming wind power industry. The enthusiasm for “Clean Tech” industrial development is very high and business is working to save energy with alternate technology. MSCM’s experience in the windpower industry was obvious as we currently have two Chinese clients in this area – Apower, a public company building wind turbines for wind farms, and a private firm that manufactures wind turbine blades.
The next stops were in Xi’an and Souzhou. We met with government officials from a program created to help establish new businesses in these development zones. The purpose of the roadshow was to let corporations know that Canada is also a source for financing.
We were also delighted to see that Migao Corporation, a Chinese firm we assisted in going public, was featured as an example of a successful and well known Chinese firm. We are proud of Migao’s success – and happy to note that of the three featured companies discussed during the roadshow, Migao Corporation was the only one whose auditors participated in the roadshow!
